New Videos on Vaping and E-Cigarette Lung Illness

As media continues to cover cases of lung illness – and death – associated with vaping and e-cigarettes, MedCram is here to provide the latest information on diagnosis and treatment. We’ve added two new videos, discussing lung failure, illness, and disease outbreak and diagnosis and treatment, to review current medical knowledge on hazards of these trendy smoking alternatives.

Vaping and e-cigarettes in the news

What’s now labeled an “epidemic,” the news of respiratory failure and distress associated with e-cigarettes and vaping slammed into public consciousness earlier this summer. An alarming rise in hospitalizations for lung illness with no clear diagnosis led doctors to find ties to the use of vaping and e-cigarettes. With the average age of these patients hovering around 19 years old – and overwhelmingly male – parents, educators, researchers, and lawmakers are taking a serious look at smoking alternatives and their potentially deadly side effects.

The latest from MedCram

As occurrences of this epidemic continue to pop up, it’s critical that medical professionals stay informed. We’ve released two new MedCram videos on the background, diagnosis, and treatment challenges of lung injury associated with vaping and e-cigarettes. Dr. Seheult summarizes symptoms to look for, diagnostic criteria and tests to consider, what’s missing in the current research, and how to navigate the lack of guidelines with this emerging illness.
